A new Author Interview and Book Release

Rebecca Stewart Author Interview

I am so pleased to introduce you all to this author. Rebecca Stewart is a personal friend of mine and today she has just released her newest book. So let's get to this interview so she can tell us all about it.
Gina: Why did you become an author?
Rebecca: Even as a child, I loved to create new worlds and stories full of magic and myths. Writing was a way to read the stories I wanted to read and I adore getting lost in plots and expressing myself in a way other people can enjoy. Writing is what keeps me sane and happy, even on the days I want to throttle my characters for not playing along or sticking to the script.

Gina: What genre of books do you like to write?
Rebecca: I love writing anything paranormal/fantasy driven because I have a love of magic. You don’t have to stick to any world rules, you can create your own. There’s also something exciting about the fantasy genre, it really gets me excited and is one of my favorite genres to read. Historical fiction is something I’d like to try in the future too as I’m a complete history buff.

Gina: What is your inspiration for the current book or series you are writing?
Rebecca: I was inspired by the Scottish and Irish legends of Wulvers (werewolves). Even songs and the Highlands I’m used to helped inspire my world. Day to day conversations I have can spark an idea that grows and I’m lucky I have strange friends that talk about such random things.

Gina: Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Rebecca: Panster, definitely, which sounds really bad. There are some things I plot beforehand but most of the time I start writing and just see where I end up! Sometimes it’s frustrating, especially when I get stuck but I like to dive right in.

Gina: Do you have any quirks or habits when your writing?
Rebecca: I get distracted easily and have a habit of writing more than one or two books at a time which makes things slow going. I like having background noise but I can’t have any music with lyrics or I end up singing a long so it’s epic movie soundtracks for me!

Gina: Have you had any setbacks becoming an author yourself?
Rebecca: Most setbacks have come from my own lack of self-esteem and belief that I’m not good at what I do. I have days where I truly believe I should give up but I have good friends that keep me going. At the end of the day, writing is my passion but that means I put all my hopes and dreams into it. It’s hard when you put your whole soul into something because there’s that fear of failure. But I love what I do, I wouldn’t choose any other job in the world.

Gina: What advice would you give to someone who would like to become a writer?
Rebecca: Don’t listen to any do's or don’ts of writing. Write your story how you want it any way you want to. That’s the beauty of writing your own book, it’s wholly and entirely up to you where you go.

Gina: What is some of the best advice or inspiration you have received from another author?
Rebecca: A very close friend always tells me not to worry about mistakes until the book is finished. Write the book and then go back so you can see exactly where things need tweaked or more added. Let the voices in your head scream loud, my characters are very vocal and I listen to them.

Gina: What goals have you set for yourself in the future?
Rebecca: This year’s goal is to get two books published and to host a signing! I may even be taking part in the Edinburgh book festival. I want to get my Facebook group to reach 200 members this year too and I’m so close!

Gina: How do you want readers to see your work?
Rebecca: I’d love if they could see something of themselves in it, something to escape to and maybe even help with coping with life’s challenges

Gina: What should a reader expect to see from your next novel?
Rebecca: Something a little grittier than the first two books in the series. As a sufferer of depression and anxiety, I wanted to put that into my writing. It’s more than a romance, it’s about overcoming the battles you fight in your own head. Of course there’s also big alpha males, magic, steamy scenes and everything you want from a werewolf story!

Gina: Is there anything you would like to share with your readers?
Rebecca: Just thank you. Thank you for reading whether you enjoy my stories or not, every little helps and I wouldn’t have made it without my readers. Come join my Facebook group, join the pack, get to know the characters and the world they live in even more!

Gina: Thank you Rebecca for joining us today. I wish you luck on your new release and hope everyone who has joined us will check it out.
