Thank you for joining us today and answering a few questions for me and some of my friends. Let's get right into it then.
Gina: Why did you become an author, Myra Ward?
Myra: I have been an avid reader since I was a young child. It helped me escape reality. If I didn’t have a book to read, I would make up my own stories. Being creative keeps me sane so I started writing my story ideas down. My father, who always had a dream of being a writer, encouraged me to keep writing. He passed away before I could hit publish, but I know he would be so proud.
Gina: I'm sure he would be. What romance genre of books do you like to write?
Myra: Contemporary Romance. I am a sucker for love and a happy ending.
Gina: I've read your book. It is pretty hot in some places.
Myra: Steamy is my preference in any book I read or write.
Gina: What is your inspiration for the current book or series you are writing?
Myra: In my late teens, early twenties I spent a lot of time touring the country with different rock bands. It was an experience I will never forget. Also, I am a former musician, so a rock star romance had to be my first book.
Gina: Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Myra: Pantser! I would love to be a plotter, but I spend hours plotting and my characters decide to do something completely different. It drives me crazy looking at my outline after I have strayed off course, so I throw it all out and let my characters tell the story.
Gina: I am a pantser too. No matter how much I plot, it doesn't come to life until I write. Then I'm plotting all over again.
Myra: That's me exactly.
Gina: Do you have any quirks or habits when your writing?
Myra: I am distracted easily so I have to turn off my wifi and listen to music or rain sounds.
Gina: Have you had any setbacks becoming an author yourself?
Myra: It took me a long time to finish my first book. My father became ill not long after I started writing. I was his caregiver, so I put the book on hold for a while.
Gina: What advice would you give to someone who would like to become a writer?
Myra: Keep writing. I can’t say it enough. Writing is something we have inside of us. I wanted to give up so many times because I thought I would never be good enough. If you have story to tell, tell it. Someone will be glad you did.
Gina: That is some good advice. What is some of the best advice or inspiration you have received from another author?
Myra: I don’t know many Authors personally, but Colleen Hoover has always inspired me with her kindness and general support of other authors. Reading her book, Slammed, is what gave me the courage to write.
Gina: What goals have you set for yourself in the future?
Myra: I want to write six more books in The Dark Rain/Lane Gang series. I am also a huge fan of RH (reverse harem) so I am writing a fun story about Triplet brothers and their best friend, who happens to be the girl next door.
Gina: Oh! Are they identical?
Myra: Yes, they are identical.
Gina: How do you want readers to see your work?
Myra: As an escape from reality. That’s what I always hope to get from any book I read.
Gina: What should a reader expect to see from your next novel?
Myra: The next book in my rock star romance series will be darker than the first. The main characters have had to deal with so much in life that they have many obstacles to get past before they can find their HEA.
Gina: When will we be seeing your next book release?
Myra: I am hoping February at the latest but I have no set date yet because I am still learning.
Gina: Is there anything you would like to share with your readers?
Myra: I want my readers to know that I am always there to chat or talk books. I am not only an author but a reader myself. I love to make new reader or author friends. However, I am an introvert so I am terrible at initiating a conversation.
Gina: Thank you, Myra Wards for doing this interview with me. I loved your book and readers can check it out here on my blog. Your story is amazing and I wish you much success.
Myra: Thank You.
Gina: Check out Myra Wards first book now if you like. Her page is posted below and you can see my review. Thank you for reading and I am looking forward to my next interview with Heather Huntsman. She has a new book coming out in a few days and I can't wait to see what's going to be in it.
